Sand Between My Toes

I love feeling the sand beneath my feet. And I love the sound of the ocean. We try to make it to the beach every summer, and for me, it would not be summer if we didn't. I think my hubby would be willing to go to the mountains instead, but my son loves the water so he is like me when it comes to the beach. I'm not even a big fan of being out in the water, except for wading in it up to my knees. I love to walk along the beach and look for shells, or sit and watch people walk by while I listen to the waves. We don't get to go all that often, but maybe that is for the best. It just makes me look forward to my next visit even more.

Dad's Day

This picture of my Dad has always made me smile. First of all, the way our dog Cricket is up in the chair watching over the food is so cute. But also, this picture is a great representation of my Dad to me. This particular house we lived in had a great screened porch. Dad loved sitting out there on weekend mornings, reading the paper and having coffee, then eating breakfast. Weekends in the summertime for my Dad meant shorts, no shirt, no shoes, and no shave.
My Dad passed away in May of 2007, so he is not here celebrate Father's Day with. So, this day for me is about remembering him, and thinking about all the things that have happened over the past four years that I would share with him if I could.

Summer Has Arrived

Well, this school year has flown by like it always does. It seems like school starts, I blink and it's over. Of course my 11 year old does not see it that way. He complains all year about school and how he can't wait till summer. Then summer arrives and all I hear is "I'm bored." My Mom had to hear that too, but when I was growing up we did not have all the video games, community pools, summer camps -- or even air conditioning for that matter. Hopefully we will be able to find some fun stuff to do this summer, because just like the school year, we blink and it's over!

Fix it Friday

The I Heart Faces website offers "Fix it Friday" where they supply pictures and members of their online community can make their own edits to the image. It is fun and great practice. This is the untouched picture and the after image with my edits. Hope you like it!
